2 Brothers is a straightforward, full-service restaurant located along Av. dos Descobrimentos in Lagos, with a setting that taps into the coastal vibe of the Algarve. Situated near the waterfront, it’s a spot that naturally draws in seafood lovers and those wanting a genuine taste of regional Portuguese flavors.

The menu, while not overly expansive, focuses on traditional Algarve specialties and fresh fish dishes—think classics like bife à Portuguesa, fish cataplana, bacalhau, and local shellfish such as goose barnacles and percebes. The quality of the seafood stands out, particularly in the cataplana, which receives praise for its rich, balanced flavors and generous portions, making it suitable for sharing. For meat options, the Iberic pork with mustard sauce and steak selections hold their own alongside the seafood offerings.

Guests can expect a casual but attentive dining experience with friendly staff who engage warmly without being intrusive. Some visitors have noted a modest menu size and the separate charge for bread and accompaniments, which is something to be aware of. Still, the wine selection is well-curated and priced reasonably, supporting the laid-back drinking culture of the area.

Seating extends to a terrace overlooking the marina and nearby yachts, which adds an authentic maritime atmosphere, especially pleasant in the evening as local sailors and visitors take in the coastal breeze. This outdoor element makes it especially appealing on warm days or cool summer nights, when people watch the slow rhythm of coastal life while enjoying their meals.

2 Brothers fits well for diners who appreciate straightforward Portuguese cuisine with an emphasis on seafood and traditional flavors, alongside a relaxed, unpretentious atmosphere. It’s a good fit for couples and small groups looking to ground their meal in the coastal character of Lagos without the polish or pretension of tourist-heavy spots.

Great food, nice and friendly staff. We loved everything about the place and we’ll definitely come back. Strongly recommended for Algarve style foods.

To be honest, the menu was a bit limited, and they do charge separately for the bread, olive oil and olives. For tapas, we had the seafood mayo with a side of bread, which was nice. The highlight of the meal was definitely the cataplana — really flavourful and well prepared. The dish is good for 2. For dessert, we tried the chocolate mousse. It was okay, but nothing special. Overall, some good dishes, especially the cataplana, but a mixed experience.

Surprised by the quality of the food, delicious fish soup and bacalhau. We also had the nacos de porco ibérico and was the best one I’ve ever tried! Staff were friendly and respectful. Great selection of wines with reasonable prices.

We dined here last night and were served by Catano, who provided excellent service throughout. It was a thoroughly enjoyable experience, especially sitting out on the terrace with a view of the yachts racing just off the coast. To start, we ordered what can only be described as barnacles that resemble dinosaur claws—apparently a local delicacy. While their appearance was unusual and slightly off-putting, they turned out to be absolutely delicious. I truly enjoyed the entire dining experience and would highly recommend it. — G.B.

Awesome restaurant!! The food was amazing, my husband had the John Dory fish, he said it was the best fish he has ever had in his life and I had the steak with mushroom sauce, delicious!! Caetano our waiter was friendly and professional so was Antonio. We met the chef Antonio and he was so kind. Great location accross from the ocean in the square. The wine was excellent and a good price. Highly recommend!!

If you’re in Lagos and love seafood, 2 Irmãos is an absolute must. This local favorite serves up incredibly fresh, flavorful dishes—from picking your own crab/seafood and snagging some red snapper to seafood rice—in a warm, welcoming atmosphere. The staff are super friendly, the portions are generous, and everything feels authentically Portuguese. Skip the tourist traps—this is where you want to eat. Portions are phenomenal, do not skip this place!
